Multiple collision involving a gas pipe caused explosion on the Mexico-Puebla highway; Six deaths reported



A multiple collision of several vehicles, including a trailer and a gas tanker, caused an explosion and subsequent fire on the Mexico-Puebla highway, so the road was closed, reported Federal Roads and Bridges of Income and Related Services (CAPUFE).

Around 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, Capufe announced on his social networks that the Mexico-Puebla highway was closed in both directions due to a collision and fire of multiple cars at kilometer 53, at the height of Llano Grande, State of Mexico.

The vehicular flow was diverted to Río Frío in the direction of Mexico City, Capufe reported.

Local media claimed that six people died as a result of the crash and explosion; however, the authorities have not issued an official statement on the matter.
